Learn to Kayak Class for Mendocino County Residents

Do you want to learn to kayak?

Do you want to meet other Mendocino County locals to paddle with?

. . . Join us for our Learn to Kayak Series for Mendocino County Residents.

This is a 4 week series that we have designed to get our friends and neighbors paddling on our local waters.  The first class is a free introduction to the kayaks and equipment used for kayaking.  The next three classes are on-water skills instruction for paddlers to learn to efficiently and safely navigate their kayaks.

This is a perfect class for those who have never kayaked before or for those who have kayaked before  but want to learn proper technique.  This class will be held on the protected waters of the Noyo River Estuary by our shop at Dolphin Isle Marina.  If you are interested in learning to kayak in the  ocean, consider taking this class followed by our Intro to Ocean Kayaking Class.

The June 1st class is free.  The series is $40 for all 3 on-water classes or $20/class.  Register online for the series or pay with cash or local check the day of the first class.    Participants are encouraged to use their own kayak.  We will provide kayaks, paddles, and life jackets for those who do not have them.

Here is the schedule -
June 1 from 5:30-7:30pm.  Introduction to Kayaks and Equipment for Kayaking - This class will be held at our space in Dolphin Isle Marina.

June 8  5:30-7:30pm - Kayak Fit, Safety, and Basic Strokes - This will be an on-water class.

June 15  5:30-7:30pm - Capsize Prevention and Recovery - This will be an in-water class.  Participants must wear wetsuits for this class.  If you do not have a wetsuit, we will provide one for you.

June 22 5:30-7:30pm - Trip Planning and Review of Skills - This will be an on-water class/tour.

This is one of our favorite classes of the year to teach.  We look forward to getting more locals out on the water.  Please contact us if you have any questions about the class.

If Monday nights don't work for you, consider taking one of our Saturday Introduction to Kayaking Classes.
