Eel River Multi-Day Wilderness Kayak Trips
Northern California’s Eel River has amazing opportunities for overnight and multi-day whitewater kayak trips. Spring is our favorite time for multi-day trips on the Eel. After a wet winter, the hills are gushing with springs and waterfalls. The trees are budding with green interspersed with the pinks of Redbuds. A variety of wildflowers color the banks of the river, and spring is a good time for wildlife viewing.
The Eel River has a variety of options for overnight trips. Below are a few of the trips that we guide.
Hearst Run - 18.5 miles Class II/III Wilderness (2-3 days)
Dos Rios to Alderpoint - 43 miles Class II/III Wilderness (4-6 days)
Alderpoint to Avenue of the Giants - 30 miles Class I Wilderness (3-5 days - great trip for a variety of craft including sea kayaks).
Other options include day runs on the super fun Class III Outlet Creek Stretch of the Eel and/or combining trips on the above stretches or venturing over to the South Fork of the Eel.
We schedule all multi-day wilderness trips as private trips. We prefer self support kayak trips and can advise you on equipment, preparation, and packing. Raft support trips are also an option. Pricing depends upon the number of days and number of participants.
