Liquid Fusion Kayaking During Covid-19

Greetings Friends of Liquid Fusion Kayaking,

We hope that you are healthy and managing to navigate these crazy times.  These times are trying for everyone and affect all of us differently.  We like the analogy that we are not in the same boat but all are in the same storm.

How are you weathering the storm?  We have been getting emails from friends and colleagues.  While everyone has different challenges during this time, we are ALL looking forward to getting back out on the water.

Need a water fix now - check out the California Women's Watersports Collective's Online Coaching Series   Of course don't miss out on Cate's sessions May 6 and June 6.

How are we weathering the storm?  It feels like we are treading water - just keeping our heads above water.  We don’t mind treading water, but it is not something that we can do indefinitely.  Liquid Fusion Kayaking is currently closed due to California Shelter in Place Orders. We have been tending our veggie garden, making wood, running, doing weight and flexibility training, and planning for when we can share adventures on the water again.

Our crystal ball is a bit foggy so we are not sure when we will be able to get people out on the water again.  As soon as we know, we will let you know.  We are hopeful that shelter in place orders will be lifted for summer.

Mendocino County has been extremely restricted and conservative because of the limited resources in the county should an outbreak of Covid-19 happen.  We are extremely sensitive to the needs of our community and have been working hard to comply with what they deem to be in our community’s best interest.  Currently all public access points to the water on the Mendocino Coast are closed.  Until recently we were not allowed to drive to exercise.

We are fortunate to have private access to the water.  One day, we put on our drysuits and hiked from our house to the Noyo River.  We swam across the river to access our sea kayaks and went out on an adventure.  We thought you might find it entertaining so here is a video - SIP Triathlon.

As shelter in place orders are loosened, we are developing additional health and sanitation measures to minimize the risk of virus transmission during kayaking.  Social distancing, small groups, digital forms, and gear sanitization are several measures we will be implementing.  If you have suggestions, please share them with us.

Kayak Rentals

To get folks out on the water as easy as possible when outdoor recreation is permitted, we are going to be renting kayaks and stand up paddle boards on the Noyo River.  We will let you know as soon as we are up and running.

How to Help

Small businesses are struggling and people have been asking us how to help.  We encourage you to do these 5 things for all of your favorite small businesses.

1.  Be patient, be kind, and follow shelter in place orders and beach and park closures.

2.  Write a review about us and post it on Trip Advisor, Google, YELP, Facebook.

3.  Subscribe to our YouTube Channel.  We have posted several new videos and have plans for future videos.

4.  Follow, like, share, and comment on our Facebook and Instagram posts and YouTube Videos This motivates us to keep posting content and helps more people see our content.

5. When we open - Spread the word - Tell your friends, share our social media, book trips, buy gift certificates!!!

Despite social distancing, we can still connect during this time. We are working primarily out of our home office these days. Feel free to drop us an email and let us know how you are doing and of course if you have any questions.

Be well, Stay Healthy, Be Kind -

Cate and Jeff
