Sea Kayak Incident Management Class

Incident Management Training - This will be an on-water leadership course starting with personal skill development for paddling as part of a team then progressing into team dynamics and leadership. A large emphasis will be on awareness of the environment and the paddling team as it relates to preventing incidents.  Starting on easy water, students will be guided through teamwork, awareness, communication, and leadership activities so that they build skills in these areas.  As the students progress in their awareness and teamwork, we will move onto more dynamic waters.  During this progression, students will be challenged to continually assess the conditions, their team, and the "what if's."  Before moving onto incident management, we will teach a systematic method for handling incidents so that when we challenge the students with incidents, they have a plan of approach.  

Our goal this course is for the students to develop team paddling skills, group and environmental awareness, leadership skills, and a systematic approach for managing incidents.

Prerequisite skills should be in the intermediate range - ACA Level 3 or higher.

This course is going to be held in the Monterey Bay Area. Cost is $240/person.
